The story in photos
George Washington and
Jefferson National Forest Lee District Forest Service Office Edinburg, VA
Delivery:
The statue arrives bundled up and well protected for his journey
from Detroit. It is secured in the truck during
shipping. Our driver forwarded the message from the
manufacturer that the weakest part of the statue design was the
weld between the statue hand and the ax and that we should be
careful. The driver and the Forest Service personnel
described the unloading as "not a
problem".

Rinker and Frye Memorials installed the Edinburg
statue. Armed with the appropriate equipment there was a
feeling of confidence that the statue would be in good hands
with a professional monument company.

Ready to go.

The Boy is bronze is lifted to new heights.
Templates
showing where to drill the holes are sketched after the statue
is fabricated. Each statue is slightly different and these
templates are not interchangeable. The templates shown
here are for your reference only. Do not attempt to use
them as a guide for drilling.
In
the mail you will receive two threaded bolts that are one inch
in diameter. The bolts are secured through the use of epoxy
glue which you are responsible for obtaining. Left to
right the statue base is approximately 27 inches. Front to
back the statue base is approximately 17 inches.

The template marks the spot.

The drilling begins.
Waiting...Waiting...Waiting...Be careful where you lay your
rebar!

Lining up the bolts and drilled holes.
Finally at rest...

Boys of all generations. Thanks to the staff of Rinker
and Frye Memorials are doing such a great job.
