Camp Okoboji, SP-9, Iowa

2006

The Ole Time Festival Committee of Edinburg, VA has organized one of the most popular local festivals in the Shenandoah County.  Local CCC enrollees have annually taken their place among the parade participants.

It is fitting that CCC boys should hold a place of honor in the parade that is held on the very streets where they walked and worked over seventy years ago.  The Edinburg railway station was the receiving point for men and supplies for Camp Roosevelt, our nation's first camp.  For most of the camp's existence the Edinburg Post Office served as the mailing address.

L-R: Joe Decenzo, Everette Leake, Clifford Sine, Walter Atwood, Curtis Stallard, Larry McGlynn Thanks to drive & tractor owner Bill Giles for giving us a pull. Mr. Giles and his 1935 A John Deere Walter Atwood in the drivers seat!  Delegate Gilbert stopped by to say hello. Web Display.jpg (536876 bytes) Hi, Mrs. Didawick. Are you having a good time?

2005

(L-R)  Norman Turner, Mt. Jackson, VA; Clifford Sine, Woodstock, VA; Larry McGlynn, Charlotte Courthouse, VA; Curtis Stallard, Front Royal, VA

The Camp Roosevelt CCC Legacy Foundation invites all CCC enrollees to ride in the annual parade.  If you or someone you know would like to participate in the parade next year, email:  ccc@ccclegacy.org

The Edinburg Ole Time Festival is held the third weekend of September every year.
