Organizational goals are an extension of the recognized lynchpins
of Civilian Conservation Corps legacy. The purpose of our goals is to promote
awareness of the CCC program and the men who served so communities can
recognize the value of the
enduring strength of America’s youth during the Great Depression and visualize
the tremendous resulting social and cultural benefits.

Honor those who responded to the call to
become stewards of the land.

Preserve the stories of the people and
projects of the CCC

Develop an oral history
program.

Record and collect material that tells the
CCC story
-
Develop an archival system for personal papers, photographs
and memorabilia with digital capabilities.

Earn funds for CCC Interpretive
displays for the new CCC Interpretive Center
-
In partnership with the James R. Wilkins Family
and the USDA Forest Service, the vision of a new modern museum is
becoming a reality. The exterior of the structure is
completed and funds are now being sought for the Interpretive
displays. Funding is a joint effort of
federal, state, and private money. CCC

Develop educational programs that will teach
citizens of all ages.

Educational programs for students, teachers and
youth organizations in conjunction with the Interpretive Center.

Youth outreach programs that teach the
value of conservation heritage and the part that the CCC
played in developing the modern conservation system

Create awareness programs that can be
used as on-line teaching aids. Education:

Encourage interested citizens to become
volunteers to reach out in their communities to future the
knowledge about the CCC.

Support the preservation of
CCC heritage

Develop a program to respond to the growing need to
recognize and support efforts to preserve and restore CCC built
structures.

Gather research on Camp Roosevelt, located in Shenandoah County Virginia was the
first CCC Camp in America, NF-1.

Strengthen the CCC
legacy

Create partnerships that highlight the vast
legacy of the CCC and its contribution to the American life on
culture.

Create partnerships to recognize the contribution
of alumni to the modern corps system.
-
Urge all states to establish special days to
recognize the CCC. Virginia CCC Day of Recognition.

Develop tourism programs that will promote the CCC.
-
Foster an interest in other communities that hold pieces of
CCC history through partnerships with other historical organizations.
