My father, James F. Haehnlen (probably then a Lt. in
the Army) was CO of the Big Creek camp around 1940-41. I know
that I lived there as an infant. My mother often talked about
how kind the young men were to me & how they looked after me as if
I were their little sister. Her name was Peggy. Does
anyone recall this?

Hello. My mother and I are
trying to find any information, pictures, etc. regarding my
grandfather. He was at the Cass Lake, MN camp during the
years 1931-1933, give or take a year or two on either side. His
name was John George Radosevich, and he lived in Duluth, MN. We
all attended an all-state reunion with him in 1996, but
couldn't find any pictures from his particular camp, so any
information, acquaintances, or pictures would be very much
appreciated.

I
am looking for any information about CCC C 1389 SP-14-Va.,
Bassett
,
Va.
I have a 4 foot long photo of the entire camp company which I
think hung in my father’s office at the camp in 1939. My dad
was Lt. Warren W. Wooden, [Woody], and he was the commander listed on
the picture dated Aug. 1939. He would have been 24 years old at
the time and I am interested in knowing anything about the activities
and records of the camp. He was later killed in
Vidoville
,
France
during WWll. My mom thinks she remembers living in Bassett, but
I am wondering if they even had any accommodations for the
Commander’s wife. It is possible that he was at the camp from
its inception since he graduated in Forestry from
N.C.
State
. Thank you so much for any info.

I am looking
for any one that may know my father. He joind the ccc around 1939. The
Co. 3544 Camp F-35 Camp Manila, Utah. When he joined the CCC he joined
under the name James Vaughn. He originally came from an orphanage
called the Fairmount Children's Home in
Alliance
Ohio
. He was there from 1931 to about 1937. The story I was told is his friend
James Vaughn was called to go to the CCC and could not go, so My dad
Richard Chancey went in his place. I never found out until 1982 that
James Vaughn was not my fathers real name. Never the less he lived his
entire life as James Vaughn and served his country in WWII and
Korea
.

An elderly gentleman in our parish
(county) says that at the site of a former local CCC camp there are
white irises because it was a tradition to plant white irises at CCC
camps. Have any of you heard of this tradition? An online search
yielded an article about a camp in
Missouri
where the director ordered the crew to plant irises, but it doesn’t
say whether or not he did that because of CCC tradition. Have you
heard any such stories? I
appreciate any help.

Camp SP-13 (Co. 1848 and 1860-V) is an almost intact camp here in
Colorado. Thanks to the efforts of our alumni, Chapter 7, we have some
photos and other memorabilia from camps around the state and the
country. I will try to post a list soon of the camp and company photos
we have, in case it helps anyone looking for information.
If anyone has information
on Colorado camps SP-13, SP-14, and F-58, it would be very welcome.
Companies associated with these camps are 1848, 1860, 829, and 894. If
you are looking for records for someone enrolled in Colorado, you
should check the Enrollment Index at the Colorado State Archives: http://www.colorado.gov/dpa/doit/archives/ccc/cccscope.html

We are preparing a National
Register of Historic Places nomination for the National Park Service
(Canyonlands National Park, Moab, Utah) to recognize the historical
importance of grazing-related resources in the Gray's Pasture, Neck
Spring, and Cabin Spring area of the park. Records indicate
that CCC workers from Camp DG-32 (Dalton Wells, Utah) did the spring
improvements at Neck Spring in 1938. It's not clear who did
the improvements at Cabin Spring. We would like to interview
enrollees who may recall of this project and what the Gray's
Pasture/Neck Spring area was like. Also, what type of
instruction/training did they get in the construction of the
livestock troughs.

Request: I'm looking for any
information or photos that may include my uncle, Bernard L. Speirs.
Bernard served one enlistment under his own name, then enlisted again
under his brother's name, John Junior Speirs. He would probably have
been known by the nickname Monk. He was originally from WV, though I
don't believe he served in that area. He spent part of his enlistment
at Russian Gulch State Park in Northern California building picnic
tables. He would have served in other areas unknown to me - possibly
Klamath Falls, OR at one point. I know there were times he worked in
an infirmary with a Dr. Robert Davis, location unknown.

I am looking for any information (reports, correspondence,
camps newspapers, photographs, etc.) on the 50-man CCC fly
camp that worked at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument in
Coolidge, AZ, 1937-1941. I believed they were sent over
from Chiracahua National Monument Corps Camp CNM-2-A. Do
you know what city this camp was based in? The name of the
camp newspaper? Does anyone know where records for
this camp are held? I haven't had much luck with NARA,
etc. Thanks! |

I am looking for anyone who might have known my father,
Peter P. Leskovac, from Greenville, PA. I am not sure
which camp he was in but believe it might have been in the
Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania. He passed away

Request: I'm
looking for more history and information regarding my
father's service in the CCC. His name was Clyde Milo
House, I believe he joined in Missouri but ended up in
California; specifically Lakeside, Pine Valley and Campo
areas. Please let me know how can I find out more specific
information; he's been dead for 35 years but we are always
willing to celebrate his life. The 75th anniversary is
part of that celebration. |
