29th Annual Camp Roosevelt Reunion and Picnic

September 10, 2006 - USDA FS Lee District Depot

2006 Camp Roosevelt Annual Picnic & Reunion changes locations

This year the Annual Camp Roosevelt picnic and reunion was held on the grounds of the USDA FS Lee District Depot in Edinburg, VA.  Normally held at the Camp Roosevelt campground in the George Washing National Forest the location was changed to familiarize visitors with the site of the new facility.

Once again, picnic day was graced with beautiful weather.   Usually sheltered by the giant trees of Camp Roosevelt, this year picnic-goes were in full sun and adjustments were made in the seating arrangements to let folks enjoy their lunch in the shade.

The next generations at work. Commemoration Ceremony

"As custodians of our natural resources, the Soil Soldiers of the CCC nurtured American's vast land.  Let this soil that represents the history of Camp Roosevelt, blend with the projects of the modern era, that their memories may reside here in the ground  they worked.  Let us continued to honor them and their vast contribution to the modern culture."
